We’re
almost willing to bet that most readers don’t know a lot about the
resort that is the subject of this article.
The name is Autrans in France’s Alpes Dauphine, and the place
is as charming a ski resort as you are ever likely to come across.
You come across it by pointing your car in the direction of
Grenoble and then being very careful as you watch the sign toward
Villard and Autrans.
Naturally
Grenoble has an airport, but chances are you’ll end up flying into
Geneva. The alpine skiing
here is quite limited, with 25km of skible terrain.
This is mostly best suited to beginners and intermediate skiers.
But the price is definitely right.
A 7 days lift pass will cost only FF 270, or if you go for a
weekend you can pick up a day pass for only
FF 52 .
However,
if you want a little more variety and challenge there is a pass with
incluses the nearby villages of Villard Delands, Correncon and Vercors. The
total akiing in theses resorts is 160km, good in ay language.
If cross country skiing is how you get your kicks and glides,
then Autrans should definitely be on your list of places to visit.
There are no less than 110km of prepared slopes winding through
pleasant surroundings.
Take
the family, or someone special on a holiday there and we think you’ll
have some pretty good deposits for your personal memory bank.
Apres ski will not cause yuir heart to flutter wildly, but if
quiet evenings and good food and wine are priorities then you could do a
lot worse.
