Door
to door Skiing for all!
hard to get a handle on.
ou can, if you want, "knock" purpose built resorts. However,
before you do, and especially if you have not tried one think of
the magical convenience of skiing virtually from the door of
your own apartment.
This you can do in La
Plagne. La Plagne is another of those purpose built French
resorts which does exactly what the developers set out to do.
Namely to make a wide open expanse of skiing available
to a waiting public where before there was absolutely nothing.
Expansive and wide open it is. The whole are has been
designed to give the skier the maximum use of the slopes in the
most efficient manner.
There are a total of 10 different
villages making up the skiing complex which ranges from the
village of La Plagne at 1,970m to Aime La Plagne, 2,100m, Plagne
Villages 2,050m, Belle Plagne 2,050 and Plagne Belecote
1,930m. More

statistics
La
Plagne
An eclectic mix
of villages, all with a very different ‘look' from 60's
high rise to newer wooden clad chalet style buildings,
all strung out over a very picturesque mountain side.
They are connected until midnight with the free bus and
pedestrian lift network. Convenience is the order of the
day here, as most accommodations are situated close
enough to the pistes to click in and out within sight of
your door! Families are well catered for with plenty of
encouraging childrens snow play areas and sympathetic
instructors.
On the
mountain
La Plagne once had a reputation for endless
flattering reds and blues making an intermediate
paradise, with experts being less well catered for. Well
no longer! In December 2003, La Plagne was linked
up with Les Arcs via the ‘Vanoise Express' - a
double decker cable car - which increases the terrain
twofold to 420km boasting 2 glaciers, the Bellecote and
the Aiguille Rouge. This is a very exciting development,
2 of the most snowsure resorts in the area linking up!
