La
Plagne ,
France |

The whole are has been
designed to give the skier the maximum use of the slopes in the
most efficient manner. There are a total of 10 different
villages making up the skiing complex which ranges from the
village of La Plagne at 1,970m to Aime La Plagne, 2,100m, Plagne
Villages 2,050m, Belle Plagne 2,050 and Plagne Belecote
1,930m.
The skiing from each of these villages interconnects beautifully
and goes to the towering heights of 3,250m on the Glacier de
Bellecote, a most challenging area indeed. There is also a
very easy blue as well as a moderate red run up here.
However we would not
recommend beginners or really weak skiers to venture here as the
trip back is not all that easy. Before we go jumping up
and down about all the challenge in La Plagne we should also let
you know there is lots of gentle and middle skiing to be
had as well. This is available no matter in which of the village
complexes you happen to be staying. Our estimates would be
a 70% portion of the skiing in La Plagne would be suitable for
the "recreational skier".

It is also possible to
ski from Belle Plagne down to Montchavin and Les Coches giving
the area a really tremendous amount of potential. Plus
there is summer skiing on the Glacier de la Chiaupe which comes
in the Champagner sector. This is over the top of the runs
coming directly from La Plagne. As in many purpose-built
resorts, the ski lifts (70 here) are often included with your
apartment price. Night life is of a "bring you
own" variety but there are lots of other amenities
available.
To got to La Plagne by
air, Geneva is the closest international airport, from Italy
come thought the Mont Blanc tunnel and from Switzerland from
Geneva in the direction of Albertville.
