The French giant of Val d'Isere, La Rosiere may be
considered an also ran in the grand scheme of things.
If you think that dear visitor you would be dead
wrong.
It is a delightful little resort. La Rosiere
is in the French province of Savoie but makes claim

combined on a lift pass with the Aosta Valley Resort

On its own La Rosiere offers just around 85km of
skiable terrain but is much more impressive when one
combines the skiing with that of La Thuile.
Oh by

from Italy in winter, the Petit St. Bernard pass is
closed at this time of year. The resort makes no
claim to being an expert's paradise but I for one
didn't mind the cruise from La Thuile.
Skiing starts at 1100 meters and there is also the
rare treat of helicopter skiing available.
